This post is all about the best bathroom essential items and must haves for home.

Like many people, the bathroom is one place where I am picky about some of the things that we use.

I like to try out different products, but I tend to settle on a few favorite items that we come to depend on for our daily use.

Here are some of our favorite types of bathroom essentials to use both in the bathroom and around the home.

The list also includes sustainable beauty options, which we’ll probably be seeing more of in the future. I’ve already found that reusable makeup remover pads and cotton swabs can have great uses in and around the home. Plus, they help us to save money since you can reuse them.

The Best Bathroom Essentials

1—Bath Towels

Cozy, comfortable bath towels are one of life’s great joys when it comes to spending time in the bathroom. We love thick, plush towels that absorb moisture well.

Another option is a European-style waffle-weave bath towel, which can be soft, absorbent, and quick-drying. These towels are great for use during summer and for traveling.

White towels are popular, as they give your bathroom a clean, crisp look. Also, they match with almost any decor, and the lighter color can help to make your room look larger.

I am partial to slightly earthy tones that match natural stone and tile accents in the bathroom, like beige, cream, and blue. I find these colors to be relaxing and grounding.

When it comes to household necessities that you use everyday—like bath towels, it can be a good idea to invest in high quality towels that you can use for awhile before having to replace them.

2—Bath Robes

A comfortable bath robe is another essential item for the bathroom, especially when it’s something that you spend a lot of time in while getting ready.

Now that spring is almost here, it is time to switch to a lightweight cotton robe to wear. But plush, cozy robes are definitely a must have for winter.

3—Vanity Tray

A vanity tray is a great way to display your essentials, like fragrance and toiletries. Use vanity trays to hold towels and toilet paper rolls for a more detailed and put together look.

4—Sink Accessories

Basic sink accessories, like a soap dispenser, soap dish, toothbrush holder, and towel racks are must have items for the bathroom.

You can also use stylish dispenser bottles for things like lotion. Bamboo is an eco-friendly material, and it handles moisture well, too.

5—Small Bathroom Storage Solutions

An over the door towel rack is a perfect storage solution for small space bathrooms.

A slim rolling cart is one of the best storage solutions for small space bathrooms. It’s a great way to keep your bathroom essentials organized, plus it can add a sleek look to a bathroom.

6—Shower Head

Upgrading your shower head is an easy way to get a more spa-like experience at home that is perfect for your favorite self-care rituals.

For us, the best shower head is one that offers multiple settings—giving you the option of having a full-coverage, rain shower, a pulsating massage shower, or a light but persistent mist, depending on what you are feeling like that day.

For a super luxe experience, look for a shower head that also includes a hand-held shower wand.

7—Toilet Paper Holder

Use this handy object to hold up to 12 rolls of toilet paper, making them easier to access in a way that makes you look super neat and organized.

8—Stylish Waste Basket

A stylish waste basket is a must have in the bathroom for collecting things like used tissues and cotton pads.

If you are looking for ways to become more green in your daily habit, then using compostable trash bags is one way to potentially help the planet.

Using reusable cosmetics pads and swabs, and cloths instead of single-use tissues, can help to reduce waste.

9—Essential Oil Diffuser

An essential oil diffuser is the perfect thing to make your bathroom air smell like the air in a spa.

10—Bath Overflow Drain Cover

If you’ve ever wanted to take a luxuriating bath, and been annoyed by the sounds that the drain makes once the water level reaches a certain point, then this may be the tool for you.

11—Bath Rugs

Comfortable bath rugs are a must have in the bathroom. My favorite types of bath rugs are those that offer plenty of cushioning with a slip resistant backing to help keep it in place.

12—Cotton Pads

Cotton pads are a must have for things like removing makeup and sunscreen, applying toner, and removing nail color.

13—Reusable Makeup Remover Pads

Reusable makeup remover pads do many of the same tasks as cotton pads, but they are a more earth-friendly option since you can use each pad more than once. That means that it can also be budget friendly, since you may be buying fewer single-use, cotton pads for your daily ritual.

14—Pointed End Cotton Swabs

Pointed end cotton swabs have so many uses in a beauty regimen, that they are a good tool to have if you like to wear makeup. Use pointed cotton swabs to help apply finely detailed makeup (such as glitter makeup details or a perfectly blended smoky eye look).

Cotton swabs are great for dipping into mixing medium to help put together and spread makeup.

15—Reusable Cotton Swabs

Reusable cotton swabs can be used for many of the same tasks as regular cotton swabs, but they can be used more than once. Just wash the used swabs with soap and water to clean.

I like to use these for tasks where I don’t mind reusing a cotton swab, like removing nail polish or ear duty (but I keep each type of swab separate, according to what it’s used for).

Reusable cotton swabs are also great for garden duty, where they can be used to hand-pollinate squash and other plants that need it. This leaves regular cotton swabs for using with eye makeup, and it means that I can buy less of them.

16—Hair, Beauty, and Makeup Organizers

If you wear makeup, then you know how confusing it can be to keep up with the many brushes, compacts, tools, and accessories that come into your collection over time.

Clear acrylic makeup organizers are perfect for storing cosmetics and making them easy to find.

Use a hair tool organizer (or two) to store your hair tools when you’re not using them.

Drawer organizers are perfect to use for storing everything from makeup brushes and serums and gels to toothpaste and hair ties.

17—Apothecary Jars

Apothecary jars add a classic, grown-up look to any bathroom, plus they keep things organized in a way that looks pretty. Use apothecary jars to store things like makeup remover pads, cotton swabs, and cotton balls.

18—Light Up Vanity Mirror

A light up vanity mirror is the best thing to have if you have a low light situation in your bathroom or dressing area. Not only does the mirror magnify your face, it also gives you more light to see when you’re applying makeup or beauty products to your face.

19—Spa Headband

A spa headband is perfect for pulling your hair back to keep it out of the way while you wash your face or apply beauty products or makeup. It’s perfect for keeping your hair out of your face while you apply your favorite beauty masks.

20—Shower Caddy

Keep all your shower essentials within reach with a hanging shower caddy.

21—Under the Sink Storage

Use under the sink storage to increase your maximum space.

This post was all about bathroom essentials and must have items.
