This post is all about how to make a unique fall floral arrangement using pink, orange, and cream colored flowers.
Colors like terracotta and burnt orange have been really popular for decorating weddings these days, and I thought it would be a neat idea to find ways that these colors could be used in fall decorating for the home.
Usually, the idea of fall colors brings to mind deep red, brown, orange, and yellow tones, but it would be interesting to lighten up the fall color palette in a way that still says “fall”, but with a twist.
Salmon, light orange, champagne, cream, and other colors can be used to make a unique fall color palette that is perfect for making floral arrangements. Small changes like this wake up the senses, and add a touch of whimsy and romance to fall decor.
Fall is a great time to refresh the home to make it feel warm and cozy, and these colors bring such a glow to a space that they would be perfect for a softer take on a dusty rose and terracotta colored fall display.
Here are some ideas on how to create a similar flower arrangement, using artificial flowers and a neutral vase.
How to Make a Flower Arrangement with Pink and Orange Artificial Flowers
Start with a neutral colored vase. Then add the flowers. Fall season flowers like dahlias, Gerbera daisies, mums, and roses are perfect for the task. A stem of Canterbury Bells (Campanula) or another tall flower variety adds height. Eucalyptus stems could be added for more greenery.
Here is a great basic vase that can be used to hold different types of floral stems. The vase stands about 7 inches tall. In general, you want to start with a vase that is about half as tall as the tallest stem that you want to put in it, depending on the type of floral arrangement that you are trying to make. Just be sure not to overload the vase with stems, so that it doesn’t become unsteady enough to tip over.
Eucalyptus stems are versatile enough to include in almost any floral arrangement, which is one of the reasons that artificial eucalyptus stems are so loved and widely used.
Fall flowers, like chrysanthemums, dahlias, and Gerbera daisies are perfect for adding to a DIY fall floral arrangement. Fall colored roses are a perfect choice, too. One of the easiest ways to get a selection of artificial fall flowers to use for making floral arrangements is to buy boxes or bunches of mixed artificial flowers.
Here are some other decorative vases to consider using to make floral arrangements and centerpieces. Neutral colors make it easy to use the vases for making floral arrangements for different seasons all year long.
Group the flowers together in a loose arrangement or in small bunches that you like before adding them to the vase. If you like, you can wrap the floral arrangement with florist’s tape or string to help hold it together, before adding the arrangement to the vase.
Slightly vary the heights of the flowers by bending the stem of each flower to create different stem heights. Floral stems like eucalyptus and dried pampas grass can be used to add height.
To create a lush, full look, cluster the same types of flowers into small bunches before adding them to the vase. In general, you want to include odd numbers of flowers in bunches or arrangements, grouping 3, 5, or 7 stems together, for example.
While most flowers in the arrangement will be at the same height, adding a tall stem and a stem or two that droop over the sides of the vase create interest. This is known as the thriller, filler, and spiller technique when arranging flowers in a vase or container.
A bunch or box of artificial flowers can be an easy way to get started with making an artificial flower display for the fall season. You can also find flower and greenery sprays and bunches.
Add the largest flowers to the vase first, and then fill in the rest with smaller flowers and greenery. If you find that you have trouble getting the flowers to stay in place, florist’s foam can be used to fill the vase and help to hold the flowers in place. When choosing floral foam, choose a size and shape that fits closest to the size and shape of the your vase (it often comes in round or square shapes).
Next, place the flower arrangement on a decorative tray. For a fall aesthetic, place small pumpkins around the vase.
You could also add an LED candle or two to the display. When using candles, we prefer to use flameless LED candles in our pet friendly home, plus they are easy to use when creating different kinds of home decor.
You could also decorate the tray with other fall decor, such as wood bead strands, rustic cow bells, or birds.
Use fall throw pillow covers or throw blankets to highlight the colors that are found in the flower arrangement. This would also make a unique flower arrangement for the Thanksgiving dinner table (use a bigger vase and more flowers for effect).
Extra flowers can be used to make smaller centerpieces to decorate places like a bookshelf, bathroom counter, or on a fall guest tray for visiting guests. Imagine being a guest at someone’s home and being welcomed by such warmly colored flowers.
When put together, pink, orange, and cream flowers make a perfect, calming arrangement for a living room, a reading corner, or a bedroom table. The flowers would also be beautiful in a cozy and welcoming entryway.
Once fall passes, the flowers can be used in other arrangements in the spring.
